RE: Horsetail Herb
Horsetail is one of the oldest herbs on earth today. In primitive times the plant grew to be over 300 feet tall. This herb is commonly known as bottle brush, shave grass and pewterwort.
Native Americans used horsetail to make mats and to polish woodwork. Europeans used it to scour milk pails, to finish fine jewelry and cabinet work.
The medicinal qualities of horsetail are primarily dealing with urinary tract conditions and as a diuretic. Horsetail has been shown to tone and strengthen organs of the urinary tract and soothe the bladder. Additionally, the herbal properties have been known to purge the inflamed urinary tract of toxins thus promoting healing within the urinary tract.
Horsetail also contains a specific nutritional property for reproduction--silica. Silica increases calcium uptake to strengthen hair, nails, bones, teeth and connective tissue. It is for this reason that the horsetail herb is included in our Fertility Supplement. This is a key nutrient that the mother will pass on to her unborn be it the avian species or the mammal species. Silica is also what coats the avian egg shell, not calcium per se.
