RE: Canine Dysfunction--Coprophagia
What is Coprophagia? This is when a dog eats its feces or another animals feces. Obviously this is not natural and there is something seriously wrong.
Our take on this condition is that it is caused by a nutritional deficiency. If a dog is receiving all the absorbable, wholesome nutrition its body requires, then this condition would most likely not exist.
What can a person do to correct this problem in their little pal? Several things:
First, give your dog wholesome, unprocessed cooked or raw meats.
Try raw and cooked and see what your dog prefers. Personally, we
have found that cooking a stew using the cheapest cuts of beef, chicken, lamb and pork along with a whole variety of fresh or frozen vegetables then thickening the broth to make a gravy is the best nutrition for our dogs.
Second, supplementing natural vitamins and minerals and trace minerals by adding these directly into the stew can help revitalize the cells that are normally depleted on a daily basis. Once an animal is completely healthy, then supplementation can probably be cut back to three or fours days a week and the dog would still be healthy as long as its filtering systems (kidneys, liver, lungs) are clean.
Why clean filtering systems? Because this is where the blood is
cleaned so it can carry nutrition to the cells. If the filters are dirty, then the blood will be carrying toxic substances and less nutrition. Toxic substances circulating within the body can then cause a myriad of other health problems like diabetes, allergies, arthritis, hyper and hypo thyroid conditions and on and on.
It is the bloods responsibility to bring nutrition to the cells. If the
blood is dirty, then it is bringing dirt. If the blood is clean, then
it is bringing nutrition. The best nutrition in the world cannot
be carried to the cells if the blood is dirty.
That poop eating is so unpleasant for dog lovers and lately we have had so many emails and phone calls about this that we thought all of you might like to know what we recommend.
